The Institute community has access to a wide range of local electronic resources provided by the University of Toronto. This page complements “Engines of Electronic Enterprise,” the guide to general online and web resources, including internet portals and projects.

The following list is divided into three principal categories, each containing groups of related resources:

Access to Restricted Resources
Access to licensed UofT resources is restricted to computers wired to the campus network and to dial-in internet service. Please consult the Information Commons website for further information. Research fellows at the Institute who may be using an external internet service (for example, a commercial dial-up internet service provider) can gain off-campus access to restricted online resources via a new service known as my.access.

Networked resources are available through a variety of servers (such as Silver Platter, Winframe, RLG Eureka, WebSPIRS, or Web of Science); as a result, all links may not launch the appropriate resource seamlessly on all systems. In particular, access to databases on the Winframe server requires a “Citrix ICA Client” be downloaded and installed on the user’s own computer: for more information, see the connection instructions. Access to other licensed resources, in particular to some journal databases, further requires clicking the Logon (or Direct) button on the preliminary screen. Some services also require users to create an individual account in order to access the digital library resource.

Specific electronic resources (ebooks, indexes, reference works, and journals) are best searched by title from the Resources index page at the UofT Library website. Subject guides to electronic journal indexes & abstracts and reference sources are also available. The library now also offers a service called my.library, “personal library web space, where you can collect e-journals, library materials, catalogue searches, websites, and any other resources you choose.”

This list was compiled and is currently maintained by
Fred Unwalla
. It was reorganized in 2002; new links were added in March 2007.
